Dudley Zoological Gardens: Tectons Tour

from 13.00

12pm, Saturday 19th October

Join the Birmingham Modernist Society for a rare opportunity to tour the famous Tecton buildings at Dudley Zoological Gardens with an expert guide. Ticket price also includes general admission to the zoo and grounds, so there’s also chance to see the animals, Dudley Castle, and ride on the UK’s only fully operational vintage chairlift.

The 12 listed Lubetkin designed concrete structures at Dudley Zoological Gardens were built between 1936 and 1937, are the greatest collection of surviving Tecton buildings in the world and some of the most important modernist buildings in the UK. As time has moved on and zoological practices have changed some of the Tecton structures have become unused and left to serve only as monuments.

Spaces on this specially organised tour are very limited, so book now to avoid disappointment. Meet at the main entrance by the gift shop.

Ticket price does not include transport connections, please make your own way to Dudley Zoological Gardens.
